After School Class A CDL Training

This is Michigan's only after school CDL program that allows high school students aged 18 - 20 to get their CDL before graduation or shortly after!

All classroom training takes place at set times. BTW training is by sign up. Each student will sign up for range and road time that works best with their schedule. Students are expected to be at their chosen training session. There is a limit of two (2) students per truck per session. Only time spent at the controls of the vehicle during these sessions will be entered into the federal training registry.

CLASSROOM TRAINING

Classroom training is after school Monday through Friday for three weeks. If school is cancelled for the day, class is also cancelled and will be rescheduled on a make-up day. Students MUST bring the following items with them to the first day of class:

  • Remaining Tuition Balance

  • Driver's License

  • Commercial Learner's Permit

All students must have their CLP, driver's license, and Fed Med card on them at all times while training. If any of these documents are missing, they will not be able to train until they have them.

Range training includes:

  • Straight Line Back

Road training will include rural and city driving time. Road training will also include instruction on:

  • And More

All training is compliant with FMCSA Entry Level Training requirements and and the State of Michigan Department of Driver Education. All training must be completed for entry into federal database and the CDL Skills Test.

In order to provide quality training to each individual, BTW training is limited to two (2) individuals per truck. Observation time cannot be used for their entry into the federal registry. Only actual time can be registered.

NO FORCED TESTING

We do not have set testing schedules for our students. We will only schedule State Skills Tests when the student is fully prepared, on their schedule. No student will be expected to test if they are not comfortable.
